Black Box is Ready for High-Res Transport

Black Box was making ready for UltraHD transmission, with three new products for broadcast and post-production.

First was the Agility IP-based KVM switching and extending system; this features ‘lossless’ signal management for point-to-point extension, multicasting, single-target sharing and KVM switching over a LAN. UltraHD video signals will be able to be added to existing deployments, using the same system controller and LAN infrastructure.

Another unit, the Dual-Head DisplayPort KVM Extender, is able to transport uncompressed UltraHD video up to 150m. USB and audio signals can be sent at the same time. The extender supports DisplayPort Dual Mode, to convert the received signal to HDMI or DVI.

A digital matrix switching system (DKM FX) was also shown, supporting HD- and 3G-SDI, standard SDI and single- or dual-link DVI extension. UltraHD is supported, using modular interface cards for DisplayPort extension over CAT-x or fibre. USB, RS232 and audio can also be extended.

Black Box’s final product was the Freedom II switch, which was said to enable ‘zero touch’ KVM switching between four local PCs. The unit works like an extended desktop switch.
