Talks between Vodafone and Liberty Global, concerning a potential merger of their European operations (Vodafone Mulling Liberty Global Acquisition), have ended.
Vodafone confirmed that the talks were over on the 28th September. John Malone, Liberty’s chairman, recently indicated that the talks had reached an impasse; he told Bloomberg that Vodafone would ‘struggle’ to reach the price needed to acquire Liberty outright. Liberty also carries higher debts than Vodafone, and the deal faced regulatory concerns in several countries.
