Combining its Pro Tablet 608 (USB-C Makes HP Appearance) and Payment Jacket with Verifone’s e355 mobile point of sale (mPOS) terminal, HP has created the HP Pro Tablet Mobile Payment Solution. The addition of Verifone’s terminal enables retailers to accept all forms of payment, such as magnetic strip, mobile wallets and NFC. HP will launch the bundled solution in January 2016.

HTC has launched its One M9+ and Butterfly 3 smartphones (Flagship HTC Models Will be Launched in Japan) in Japan. They will also be launched in Taiwan, on the 5th October. Both use 5.2″ LCD displays, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Sharp Aquos Zeta SH 01H smartphoneSamsung and Oculus VR have announced that the second-generation of the Gear VR headset will be launched in November, for $100 – half the price of the original model (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 46). Although not much was said about the device, Samsung SVP Peter Koo did say that it would work with all Samsung phones – not just the flagships.

Three new smartphones have been released in Japan by Sharp, with NTT Docomo. All three use Sharp’s ‘Edgest’ design, with minimal bezels, use IGZO LCD display technology and run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 chipset (1.8GHz hexa-core CPU and Adreno 418 GPU). The phones are the Aquos Zeta SH-01H (5.3″, 1920 x 1080); Aquos Compact SH-02H (4.7″, 1920 x 1080) and Sharp Disney Mobile DM-01H (similar to the Aquos Compact, with Disney content and branding).
