Wowza provides a video streaming engine for content creators and announced the new 4.2 release at InfoComm. The software allows for video streaming up to 4k. The streaming engine transcodes , prepares and delivers the video to the end user. The solution also includes DVR functionality for the consumer and DRM encryption.
The company offers either the software package as a standalone product or video streaming as a service with the new offering, “Wowza Streaming Cloud”. The standalone software costs $2,000 while the monthly subscription will cost you $65 per month.
The solution is used in sports and education. Wowza’s customer base is global with about 1/3 of its customers located in the US. – NH
