Our visit to Crestron was a bit of a frustration. We went a couple of times to make an appointment to hear about the latest technology, but we were basically abandoned on the booth. Staff, who were stood around in some numbers, did not seem interested in talking to us! Never mind, we found a story!
The main new product that we looked at was a new 4K60 scaler that the company has developed. The DM-RMC-4K-Scaler-C is described as a “DM Room Controller”. The box takes DM 8G+ (which seems to be the Crestron name for HDBaseT – its said to be fully interoperable with HDBaseT) inputs and can scale to its single HDMI output at 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz for 4:4:4 content and 60Hz for 4:2:0 content. There is also a DVI output for lower resolutions and the box has relay outputs, RS232, infrared and ethernet control.
There is also a new DMPS3-4K-150-C system which combines a 4K multimedia switcher (including a scaler), mic mixer, and audio DSP. Connections include:
- Four VGA inputs (with analogue audio)
- Four HDMI 4K inputs
- Two DM 4K inputs for transmitters
- Two mirrored 4K outputs:
- HDBaseT (to send to a DM receiver or to a display with an HDBaseT input)
- HDMI (for direct connection to a display)
- Mic input for mixing with programme audio and outputting at line level
The switcher can be operated by the DM3.0 ip-based control system.
