Weasel Labs has designed a fan system for VR head-mounted displays (HMD), currently compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR.
ZephVR was created using machine learning and audio labelling to respond to the sound of wind blowing in a video game by creating the sensation of a breeze for the user.
The ZephVR can simulate wind and air movement.
Alternatively, the ZephVR can also be used in “always-on” mode to cool the face of the user, for the purposes of comfort rather than immersion.
A Kickstarter campaign was recently launched for the device, with a target of $30,000. At the time of writing, the campaign sits at over $41,000, with another 12 days to go.
