WaveOptics, a designer and manufacturer of diffractive waveguides, has announced a collaboration with EV Group, a supplier of wafer bonding and nano-imprint lithography equipment, to bring AR waveguides — a key optical component for AR wearables — to the mass market. The two companies say they are committed to unlocking the mass-market adoption of AR across all segments.
By leveraging the pilot line manufacturing infrastructure offered by EV’s NILPhotonics Competence Centre, WaveOptics says it is hoping to exceed the projected demand it has seen from its customers during the coming months. The partnership plans to have products on the market by 2019, priced under $600.
