Video Clarity Compares 8k Video

Video Clarity has announced a video quality analysis system for 8k video, as well as an uncompressed SD-to-8k recorder and player.

The ClearView Extreme 8k system can be used to measure and analyse the quality of uncompressed video, using perceptual metrics and side-by-side visual comparison on a single display. Video Clarity recommends using this system to testing system output of signal-processing equipment and digital content in a lab before deployment.

Broadcast engineers and researchers can use ClearView Extreme 8k to understand the generational and picture-quality potential of new 8k formats. Source and encoded video can be compared side-by-side. Other features in the GUI include zoom, scroll and viewing modes such as ‘A minus B’. Two uncompressed 8k sources can be played at up to 30Hz, or two UltraHD sources at 60Hz.

The ClearView Player 8k has also been introduced, for lab tests and broadcast events. It is designed for use where a reliable video server is required to play back exact segments of video, in long- or short-form loop.

Both the analyser system and player will be available in December, with 14TB, 25TB or 38TB of storage.
