The production of large-size LCD panels has risen to unexpected levels this year, according to new research by WitsView, a division of TrendForce.
The study has found that panel manufacturers are operating at their maximum load and have made additional production capacity available earlier than planned to cope with the demand.
Kou-Han Tseng, assistant research manager of WitsView, said:
“This year’s increase of monthly large-size panel capacity is estimated at about 295K sheets per month (K = 1,000).
And with some of this additional capacity being made available in advance, the large-size panel capacity for the first half of 2017 is estimated to have reached 100K sheets per month, higher than the earlier estimate of 85K”.
Global shipments of 43″ TV panels are projected to increase by 20%, whereas the 65″ sector is expected to rise by 30%.
The report states that prices of 65-inch LCD TV panels will be expected to lower in the second half of 2017 as a result of the increase in production.

This trend will only continue with the arrival of new capacity from Chinese G10 and G10.5 fabs over the next few years. (BR)
