We have been saying that Lenovo is really the only PC company that has a good presence in mobile phones, but the addition of the Motorola brand has really boosted the business in the regions where the Lenovo brand was also relatively weak. The company has good products, has maintained its own manufacturing and design facilities (which has meant that, unlike some others, it has not “hollowed out” as some other companies have) and a good reputation. It is integrating the IBM server business, so it has real strength across a wide range of IT and communications markets. The company will eat into the profits of the HP server business and that may make life difficult for HP. This is a good time to be working at the Chinese giant. (BR)
