TI has released its latest DLP chip, a 0.33″ FullHD device that is intended for mobile smart TVs, pico projectors and smart home displays. TI highlighted the possibility of making high brightness displays and also offers a matching controller (DLPC3437). The company drew attention to the speed of the DLP which can generate dual pixels per frame and claimed high colour fidelity (although a three chip system seems unlikely! BR)
The device has a 5.4µm micromirror pitch with a ±17º tilt and will be available in the second half of 2017. The chip supports side illumination to help to make devices smaller.
