TDS Telecom will roll out TiVo’s Next-Gen Platform to new and existing TV subscribers to its TiVo-powered TV platform in both cable operations and wireline service areas.
The platform includes personalisation, search and recommendation features; voice control capabilities; content discovery across linear, OTT, on-demand and cloud DVR platforms; and multiscreen capabilities via a cloud-based, device-agnostic service.
TDS says its video solution will include a full suite of IPTV solutions, including IPVOD, IP linear, start-over/catch-up and network DVR. Nokia is providing the end-to-end content delivery solution, including its Velocix Media Delivery Platform and Origin Server. Nokia’s VP of sales Scott Cohen commented:
“The combination of Nokia’s Velocix content delivery software and TiVo’s user experience is an ideal choice for anyone interested in a pre-integrated, best-of-breed IP video solution that can power cloud DVR, linear and VoD services on every consumer screen”.
TiVo’s Next-Gen Platform will power the user experience across a host of clients including managed Android TV STBs and unmanaged, consumer-owned streamer devices such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices. TDS says this will help the company capture new market segments with differentiated business models.
