Sony’s CEO, Kaz Hirai, has said at Mipcom, the annual TV content event in Cannes, that Sony will look beyond just gaming to exploit its PlayStation VR headset and technology. The company has already developed experiences based on films available through Sony Pictures Entertainment including the The Walk, Goosebumps and Ghostbusters. Sony is also reported to be working with Kygo, to create a dance music experience.
As well as consumer applications, including sport, Sony will develop B2B applications.
Hirai also said that the work that Sony did to create the Ang Lee “Billy Lynn” production was part of his long term quest for ‘kando’ (exceptional experiences). (Ang Lee Shows the Future of Cinema Display)
