Skyworth has shown two new OLED TVs – one of which is the equivalent of the LG Wallpaper TV and is just 3.6mm thick, with a separate controller box. Skyworth is reported to have said that the price of the Wallpaper TV is around $14,000, which is much higher than LG and so many have reported the development as just a publicity stunt.
Separately, Skyworth is reported by iXBT.com of Russia to have shown 65″ and 77″ S9E TVs at a launch in China and that will cost $5,800 and $24,500 respectively.
Analyst Comment
At the end of last year, Skyworth said that it was buying a very small number of OLED panels for TVs from BOE (Is Skyworth Buying TV OLEDs from BOE?), but we believe that this is just from a pilot line, and is tiny numbers. (BR)
