Sky in the UK has announced that a voice search feature is being added to the Sky Q platform. This should make it quicker and easier for subscribers to find what they want to watch.
TiVo has joined forces with Sky and is providing Sky Q with the natural language, voice-based search solution. The feature can be activated by pressing and holding the voice button on the side of the Sky Q remote and simply saying what is being looked for.
Another feature that are being introduced, is making the My Q section on the screen become the Sky Q homepage. The page can be personalised and will also show recommendations based on the viewers previous choices. There will also be a Continue Watching section which will allow customers to pick up where they left off from watching an episode in a series.
The My Photos application will now allow viewers to sign into their Facebook profiles and see their latest photos and videos.
Further enhancements are planned by Sky later in 2017, including voice control and sports restart and in 2018, Sky will launch Sky TV without the need for a satellite dish.
