Sky Deutschland has announced that Sky Q will launch in Germany and Austria in May. The service, which provides viewers with access to Ultra HD content, among other features, will be deployed as a software update to all Sky+ Pro receivers. Those who subscribe to the Sky+ Pro service already will receive Sky Q at no additional cost.
May will also see Sky Deutschland launch the Sky Q app on fourth-generation Apple TV devices and 2015-and-later Samsung Smart TVs. The service includes a handoff feature for flicking between viewing content on TVs and mobile devices. Netflix is also coming to the service, albeit at a later date, reportedly around the same time that Sky releases its streaming service in the UK and Italy.
