SiliconCore Promotes Zach Driving

SiliconCore had some of the best looking LED displays at the show, as usual. Just before the show the company the company announced its Zach driving scheme which allows accurate 14 bit processing to enable dynamic range up to 18,000:1. The content on show looked very good although we heard that there hadn’t been time to optimise the HDR grading of the content shown. Still, it looked very good to us and certainly had a lot of ‘pop’. Initially, the technology is on the firm’s 1.2mm pitch and later will be on all of the pitches from 2.5mm down.

There has been no significant development of the Lisa CoB architecture, which was previewed at ISE and the company is continuing to get closer to production volume.

We had an interesting conversation about colour gamuts. It looks as though it may be difficult with a simple RGB configuration to get to Rec. 2020 full gamut coverage. However, the new Lisa CoB technology allows more flexibility in the LEDs used and it may be possible to use multi-primary options to increase the gamut coverage.
