Silicon Core Sees Need for High Brightness, even Indoors

Silicon Core often has some of the most impressive LED displays at industry events and this pattern was evident at ISE. The company was showing its latest 0.95mm flagship LED product which is “ready to sell”. The company is taking orders now and the firm told us that it has already won some business.

The company was highlighting its FSA (Front Service Access) which has been implemented on its 1.2mm LED units. With front access, the depth can be reduced down to less than 200mm (8″) from the wall. A magnet is used to extract the module for replacement. Silicon Core will extend FSA to its 0.9mm system “later”.

We asked whether really high resolution indoor displays are really needed with the kind of 4,000 cd/m² output that the firm can produce? We heard that, indeed, there are users that want this. For example, the flagship Microsoft store in Sydney, Australia, has a big glass-fronted design and has an indoor display inside, but which still needs this level of brightness to compete with daylight, but is seen from fairly close, so it also needs a 1.9mm pitch. At this pitch, a FullHD display has a 165″ diagonal, but the same size with UltraHD if the 0.95mm pitch is used.
