RGB Laser from Christie is DCI Approved

What They Say

The DCI, which controls the technical side of the digital cinema industry, has approved the Christie CP2420-RGB with IMS3000 Integrated Media Block for use in cinemas. The projector is a DLP unit using three 1.38″ ‘enhanced 4K’ with up to 20,000 lumens (with a high brightness lens) and up to 6,000:1 full field on/off contrast. The RGB laser light source is rated to last 50K hours to 80% luminance. The projector covers >95% of Rec. 2020 colour and has a fully sealed optical path. The light source uses ‘Enhanced Wavelength Diversity’ to improve image performance on high gain screens. With a suitable IMB, it can support 4K 120Hz or 4K60 3D.

Efficiency is 10.6 lumens/watt.

What We Think

I was disappointed not to make it to CineEurope this year – I could do with a chance to update on the latest developments. I’m particularly interested in how the latest DCI HDR requirements will affect projection. If that’s a topic you know about, I’d love to chat! (BR)
