PowerTechnology offers RGB Laser Solution for Cinema Retrofits

At Infocomm we were surprised to find a company selling RGB laser systems that it is marketing to cinema exhibitors to replace Xenon light sources. Four rack-mounted solutions, branded Illumina Cinema Laser System, are available at 10K, 24K, 34K and 65K lumens for retrofit to NEC, ECS, Christie and Barco projectors.

The company also integrates speckle reduction technology into the light sources. This leverages a $65M military contract the firm completed specifically on speckle reduction.

The laser sources are apparently air cooled and delivered over fiber to the integrator rod inside the projector. There, water cooling is used on the DMDs to maintain thermal control.

This is a 3p system, but a 6p system is in development.
