Informitiv’s latest Multiscreen Index shows that the world’s top 100 pay-TV services added about 20.3 million new subscribers between Q2’13 and Q2’14. The figure represents a 6% YoY rise. The 10 largest services gained almost 1.15 million subscribers in Q2’14 alone, and more than 1.2 million in Q1. Satellite services added more than 2.1 million in Q2, and telcos were up just under 2.1 million. However, losses in the USA meant that cable services gained fewer than 0.8 million subscribers. The strongest growth was seen in the APAC region, which added 2.2 million subscribers in Q2.
