Sony has joined the Internet of Things standards body, the Allseen Alliance. Current ‘Premier’ members now include Panasonic, Sharp, Haier, Qualcomm Connected Experiences, Microsoft and LG. The Alliance aims to promote interoperability between connected devices, using the Alljoyn open-source software. Sony has not committed to using Alljoyn yet.
Display Daily – The ITU-R BT.2020 standard is the next-generation standard for broadcast and distribution. It is the defined format for both 4K (UHD-1) with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 and (in the distant future) 8K broadcast with a resolution of 7,680 x 4,320.
