B&O Hopes to Move You…to a Larger Size

Earlier this year (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 19), Bang & Olufsen launched its new Beovision Avant 55 TV: ‘The one that moves’. Designed to fade into the background of the room when not in use, the TV was B&O’s first UltraHD set.

Now the Avant line is being expanded with the launch of a much larger model. Also UltraHD, the Beovision Avant 85 follows the example set by its smaller predecessor. It has several motorised stand options and its white point, gamma curve and RGB colours are factory-calibrated. Measurements are stored in a 3D LUT.

The only difference between the 55″ and 85″ sets – aside from their size – is in their backlights. While B&O used edge-LED technology for the 55″, the Avant 85 has a direct-LED backlight (edge-LEDs are more difficult to use on large displays). The set has a local dimming feature and 450 cd/m
