Supply chain sources say that Apple Watch yield rates are rising, so significant shipment growth is expected in the second half of the year. The sources also said that it is unlikely that vendors other than Quanta will join the supply chain, as shipment volumes are not at a level to warrant it yet.
Chinese display solution maker, HKC, has signed an agreement with the Chongqing government to invest CNY12 billion ($1.9 billion) into a new G8.5 fab. Construction began in June, and production will begin in Q1’17. Monthly capacity will be 60,000 substrates.
