Sony plans to establish a smartphone manufacturing facility in Thailand, according to the Nikkei. A new production line will be added to an existing site in Pathum Thani Province, which has been suspended since the 2011 floods. Mass production will begin in 2016, with volumes reaching ‘several million’ units.
Huawei became China’s top smart phone vendor in Q3 2015, while Xiaomi fell to second place, according to Canalys estimates. This is Huawei’s first time at the top of China’s competitive smart phone market. Orange gained 223,000 new IPTV and satellite TV customers in Q3, ending the quarter with more than 7.6 million subscribers. The vast majority (6.3 million) of Orange’s TV customers are in France, with around 774,000 in Poland and 215,000 in Spain.
