Dish Network reported 2015 year ending net profit of $747 million, down 21% YoY from $945 million. Turnover was $15.1 billion compared to $14.6 in 2014, a 3% YoY increase. Total Pay-TV subscribers declined about 0.6%, however, ARPU increased just over $3 to $86.79.

Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs & Communications has announced that the country is likely to have between 19 and 22 UltraHD channels on air by 2018. The ministry adds that they are already testing higher quality ‘Super Hi Vision’ (8k) broadcasts, planned for 2018 ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

NextVR has announced that it will begin a five-year partnership with Fox Sports, offering fans live VR coverage of US sporting events. Fox Sports’ Daytona 500 VR broadcast will be available free through the NextVR portal. Those with Samsung Gear VR can download the NextVR app on any Gear VR-compatible phones.
