Facebook has hired a team of VR ‘experts’ in London, according to The Telegraph. The recruitment creates Facebook’s first European base for its Oculus division. Mike LeBeau leads the UK team. He is a former engineer at Google who helped to pioneer the company’s voice search software.
Nokia has confirmed that it is cutting more than 1,000 jobs in its home country of Finland. The reduction will affect all business units, excluding Nokia Technologies. The majority will take place during the summer, but others will extend into 2018.

Google has announced that its Project Ara modular phone will become a reality this year. Developers will be able to buy a phone with six module slots in the autumn, with a consumer model going on sale in 2017. Sony, Panasonic, E Ink and Toshiba have been announced as module-making partners.
