Amazon reported Q2 net profit of $857 million, up over 830% YoY from $92 million. Turnover was $30.4 billion, up 31% from $23.2 billion. For the six month period, net profit was $1.3 billion, up from $35 million in the year before quarter. Turnover was $41 billion, up 22% YoY from $34 billion.
Sony reported Q1 2016 net profit of 21.2 billion yen ($205 million), down 74.3% YoY from 70 billion yen ($676 million). Turnover was 1.6 trillion yen ($14 billion), down 10.8% YoY from 1.8 trillion yen. Lower smartphone sales and damage due to the earthquakes negatively impacted financials.
