What They Say
Venturebeat reported that AR headset maker, Nreal, is making a new mixed reality headset for enterprise use (due in 2021) and is also planning to sell its Nreal Light model outside its original markets in Korea and Japan. The enterprise version is supplied with a proprietary computing pack, whereas the consumer version is bundled with specific smartphones and through LG Uplus stores in Korea. The enterprise headset will be shown at MWC Shanghai.
Users have spent an average of 49 minutes per day on Nreal Light, VentureBeat said. The top 20% of users spend an average of 120 minutes per day. Nreal also launched its headset in Japan in a partnership with KDDI.
The company is also working on a 6DoF controller from Finch Technology
What We Think
I briefly tried the Nreal headset last year, but was not impressed. However, this may have been because I have been spoiled by much, much more expensive headsets such as the Varjo device. I had already made the decision that when I next get the chance, I will pay more attention as the company does seem to be impressing some! No details of channel plans for the US and Europe have been announced. (BR)
