RoadToVR reported on a couple of videos (here and here) leaked by @WalkingCat that appear to be for smartglasses called ‘Samsung Glasses Lite’ and highlighting the use of AR glasses for virtual work displays.
What We Think
These are slick ‘corporate ‘ videos and I have to admit that it did occur to me that someone at Samsung might have thought that a ‘leak’ might bring more attention than just a press release! They are also very much ‘concept’ pieces with no sense of the optics of the glasses.
The videos show the use of apparently virtual desktops. As a pixelaholic, I love this idea – it would be great to get away from the limitations of physical monitors. But, and this is a big ‘But’, as someone that also tries to pay attention to human factors, we’re a long, long way from the kind of system that could give the level of image quality, lack of distortion and allowance for how human vision works to make devices that would be usable like this for long periods of time.
