Neotion Looks to Headless HDMI

We’ve been reporting on Neotion, the specialist in exploiting the CI slot in Europe’s TVs and STBs, since 2008. At the show this year, it was showing how a CAM can be used to control access to Hbb applications to allow OTT content to be used only when consumers have valid subscriptions. For example, catch up services can be monetised via OTT for FTA broadcasters. The company said that it is working with Fransat, ORS (Austria) and “many other operators”. The company was showing its latest HDMI dongle which supports CI+ V1.4 for OTT content access.

Neotion was promoting its DVBeacon, which is an HDMI stick client that provides an HTML5 browser and a secure media player which supports DTCP-IP. This is used as a “headless” device that can be used with smartTVs to allow access to future content.
