MStar and Seraphic delivered a HbbTV 2 demo on its latest STB chipset platforms at CCBN 2017 earlier this month. The show is one of the largest broadcasting technology and equipment exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region.
MStar is a chipset vendor for video processing and a semiconductor company for display and digital home solutions, and Seraphic is a digital TV browser and TV plus Internet solution provider. The combined solution used Seraphic’s HTML5 browser pre-integrated with MStar’s STB SoCs.
There is a growing list of countries adopting the HbbTV standard, including the UK, Italy, the Nordics and Spain. HbbTV 2 enables features including enhanced dynamic ad insertion, improved accessibility, seamless cross-device viewing and standardized Ultra HD delivery with HEVC.
