More Shipment Predictions for New iPhone Range

A recent report by Commercial Times has echoed the sentiments of other analysts forecasting shipments of the new iPhone range, providing its own estimation of 75-80 million units for the three new models, courtesy of TianFeng Securities’ Ming-chi Kuo. Digitimes Research recently weighed in with a prediction of over 85 million units for Apple’s newest smartphones.

Kuo highlighted the iPhone XR, which features dual-SIM capabilities in China, in lieu of the eSIM technology used in other territories. He also mentioned the competitive pricing of the XR, raising his shipment ratio for the device from 50-55% to 55-60%. The 6.5″ iPhone XS Max will account for 25-30% of the new range’s shipments in the second half of 2018, Kuo added.

Conversely, Kuo lowered his expectation for the standard XS model — which bears the most similarity to last year’s iPhone X — from 15-20% to 10-15%.

The analyst also has high hopes for Apple’s new Series 4 Watch, predicting that the device will account for 50-55% of all Apple Watch shipments in 2018 (estimated at 18 million).
