New iPhone Range to Ship Over 85 Million Units in Second Half of 2018

According to Digitimes Research, the 2018 iPhone line-up will ship upwards of 85 million units in the second half of 2018. The prediction is based on Apple’s annual sales, iPhone ASPs and supply chain intelligence. Suppliers are concerned that the pricing of the new phones is too high to deliver high volume.

The iPhone XR, the cheapest of the three 2018 models thanks to its LCD display, is predicted to account for over half the range’s combined shipments, despite launching over a month after its OLED siblings, the iPhone XS and XS Max. Total iPhone shipments, incorporating those of previous-generation models, are predicted to exceed 127 million units in the second half of 2018, with revenue totalling the best part of $100 billion, year-on-year growth of 10%.

Analyst Comment

The supply chain may be concerned, but Apple doesn’t set its pricing without a fair degree of thought and research, so maybe the company can come through with higher volume. (BR)
