MediaTek Growth Moderates

After a long period of strong positive growth, MediaTek has seen slowing growth and forecast chip sales for smartphones and tablets at 105 to 115 million in Q1, just 5% up from last year. Chip analysts identify the lack of a solution for LTE Cat 7 compatibility as a barrier. It has also lost some business to Qualcomm according to Asian sources, which suggest that MediaTek is trying to improve its margins, rather than simply looking for sales growth.
