What They Say
Lumus, a waveguide specialist, has been showing its latest AR headset at AWE in Santa Clara. It is now using what it calls 2D expansion (which sounds like the same kind of thing as pancake optics or the latest LetinAR TIR technology to me) to reduce the size of the system.
The prototype featured a 50-degree FOV and a 1,440 × 1,440 microdisplay that produces 3,000 cd/m².
What We Think
We often talk about ‘patient capital’ and its importance. In the case of Lumus, I first saw its waveguides at SID in 2005 and it clearly has some patient investors. I’m reminded me of the CEO I met that said “I’m patient. I remind my managers every week how patient I am’. 🙂 (BR)
