LG Looking at Two Stack OLED

OLED.Net has reported that LG Displays showed a new OLED stack that it is investigating to boost the output of 2017 OLEDs. The site reports that LG claimed a boost of gamut from 90% to 99% of the DCI P3 gamut (114% to 129% of sRGB). The brightness of a 55″ sample showed 150 cd/m² in full white mode, with 500 cd/m² peak white, with 20% lower power consumption than a two stack architecture (although we expect peak brightness of 1,000 cd/m² for 2017 TVs – Man. Ed.). The site said that a similar approach is being developed for OLEDs for lighting.

Adding more layers is going to add some cost and slow down tact time, which is not good news for the commercial success of OLED. (BR)
