LG Electronics has announced a new 34″ 21:9 monitor for gamers. The 34UC89G has a 2560 x 1080 IPS panel with 300 cd/m² of brightness. Refresh rates are supported up to 144Hz (with ‘overclocking’ to 166Hz) and colour coverage is 99% of sRGB, while response time is quoted as 5ms, The monitor has been designed to minimise input lag and supports NVidia G-Sync. Other gaming features include ‘black stabiliser’ to improve visibility of shadow detail, a ‘Dynamic Action Sync’ mode that reduces input lag and ‘Crosshair’ which superimposes a crosshair pattern on the display to help with FPS games. Inputs include DisplayPort and HDMI. List price is $999.99.
The concept of ‘overclocking’ is a little strange in a monitor. However, LG effectively says on its website that it doesn’t warrant or support the operation at this higher rate than the notional maximum of 144Hz. (BR)
