Lenovo Deluge Led by OLED Notebook

Lenovo projector for home useThe IdeaCenter 610S is a new non-notebook PC (Lenovo calls it a desktop, but you wouldn’t use it on a desk!) designed for home use. The small unit has a triangular and rounded design and has an i7 Core CPU with up to 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce 750Ti graphics card. Our interest was attracted by an optional projector that sits on top of the PC and offers 720P resolution with 220 lumens of output for images up to 110″. The pricing is planned at $849 with shipping starting as a “hard bundle” in the US in June. Outside the US, the projector may also be available separately.

The Ideacenter Y900RE is a “serious” gaming PC with dual Nvidia GTX970 graphics and a Core i7 processor. The Y27g Razer Edition Curved Gaming monitor is a 27″ FullHD unit that has 144Hz refresh and an 8ms response time along with 300cd/m² of brightness. It also supports the Razer Chroma system and has coloured LEDs in the case that can be controlled by the Razer system. There is also a non-Razer version of the Y27g.

We heard, after the event, that Lenovo has done a deal with Google to create a project “Tango” smartphone, based on a Qualcomm processor, that can overlay real world objects onto on screen displays to enable augmented reality applications.

Analyst Comment

We spoke with Lenovo’s management about its continued work on new projection products, especially in the mobile space. We heard that this is based on feedback from consumers and even business users that want to be able to share content when they are with colleagues and may not have access to a projector. We were told that there is real demand. (BR)
