Business Korea has reported that a rumoured investment by Google into LG Display may be to secure the delivery of OLED displays for VR applications. Previously, there have been rumours that Google would make such an investment, but to secure OLEDs for smartphones. (Google Offers Cash for OLEDs)
Analyst Comment
The report specifically stated that the potential investment would be for microOLED. If that is accurate, it would mean that it could be a separate investment from one for flexible OLEDs for phones. We recently reported the developments that continue for Google Glass and for that kind of application, a microOLED could be useful. (BR)
