iWedia had a lot of announcements at TV Connect. Teatro-3.5 is a complete software solution for STBs operated under Android. It is based on iWedia’s Android4TV framework which extends Android with broadcast and multicast Pay TV functionalities implemented as input modules of the Android Input Framework (TIF). It is available for Android 6.0 Marshmallow and 7.0 Nougat, integrated with various Conditional Access Systems (CAS), and connected to various service delivery platforms and content delivery networks.
Teatro-3.5 is delivered with a live TV app called C-More Live. This system app listed by the launcher is fully compliant with Google design principles and gathers all the features of a regular STB app: zapping banner, service list, grid EPG, PVR and Time Shift.
iWedia also said that the Teatro-3.5 version has been implemented on the Amlogic S905D STB which can support UltraHD at 60fps with 10 bit HEVC or VP9, using a quad core Arm Cortex A-53 and Arm Mali-450 MP3 GPU. The company also said that the software is being used by Stofa in Denmark, running on Android and will start shipping in the autumn.
Finally, the firm said that Teatro-3.5 is being used by SmarDTV for a retail STB that supports UltraHD for the HD+ service in Germany and based on Linux this time. The box is a dual tuner DVB-S/S2 device based on a Broadcom BCM7251 SoC with Nagra certification. HbbTV is supported.
