IPTV Rises as Dutch Cable Shrinks

Telecompaper has said that 55% of Dutch TV subscribers were taking a cable service in Q3’14. At the same time, fibre networks (IPTV) became the third-largest technology for receiving TV, with almost a 10% market share. DSL was in second place with 14%. Total TV connections in the Netherlands were stable at around 7.7 million, with digital growth (now at 88% penetration) compensating for the analogue fall. Ziggo was the largest TV provider, with more than 30% of subscribers, followed by KPN with 29%. UPC had 16% and CanalDigitaal 10%.
