Intel is reported to have reorganised its mobile related operations to create a new technology group, which will incorporate the former New Devices group and a number of research and product development efforts. The reorganisation is aimed at helping Intel move into new mobile products, particularly wearable devices.
The new unit will be led by Joshua Walden, a senior VP at Intel, leaving the New Devices group’s general manager, Mike Bell, to be reassigned to an as yet unspecified role. The other Intel units included in the new technology group are Intel Labs, the Perceptual Computing Group and the New Business Initiatives Group.
