According to a new report from IHS Markit, display panel fabrication utilisation will maintain its upward momentum through Q3 2017.
Utilisation is expected to reach 91% this quarter, a 1.8% increase from Q2, and a 1.1% increase from Q3 2016.
As a result, production of large LCD panels is predicted to rise by 2.2%. Alex Kang, senior analyst at IHS, said:
“One of the main contributing factors for higher utilisation rates in the past few quarters is that display panel makers are making sure their inventories are optimised at healthy levels. As a result, panel makers’ inventory will increase, but it will still remain within healthy ranges”.
