In an article about the fiftieth anniversary of the start of colour TV transmissions in Germany, which started on 25th August 1967, the GfU said that there were 28 models on the market from fifteen companies when the transmissions began, at prices from 2,350 to 2,700 DM (€1,200 to €1,400) but at higher prices in the UK (€1450 to €2175) and almost double in France (€2,300) where the Secam system was used. (A TV techies joke of the time said this was the acronym from the phrase “System Excluding Completely American Method!).
According to Wikipedia, just 100,000 TV sets were sold in Germany in 1967.
