HP Adds Two Colour-controlled Monitors

HP has announced a new addition to its DreamColor range of monitors with the Z31X Studio and HP DreamColor Z24x G2.

The Z31X Studio is a true 4K (4096 x 2160) display based on a true 10 bit IPS panel with 250 cd/m² of output and static contrast of 1,500:1 (typical, 1,200:1 minimum). Response time is 10ms. Colour performance is 100% of sRGB, AdobeRGB, Rec. 709, and 99% of DCI-P3. To keep colour performance consistent, the monitor has a built-in colorimeter capable of measuring and adjusting on-screen performance automatically or at scheduled intervals or on demand. The built-in colorimeter can also be aligned with an in-house reference instrument for consistent, accurate colors facility-wide. External calibrators can also be used.

There are dual DisplayPort 1.2 inputs and HDMI 2.0 with all having HDCP. USB 3.1 is included with charging up to 60W. An unusual feature is an integrated KVM switch to allow switching between different driving systems, for example, one with Linux and another with Windows.

The HP Z31x DreamColor Studio Display is scheduled to be available ‘later this year’ for $3,999.

The Z24x G2 is a 1920 x 1200 (16:10) monitor with, again, an IPS panel but with 350 cd/m² of output and 6ms response. Contrast is lower at 1,000:! (native, although dynamic contrast is also supported). Colour is 100% of sRGB and Rec. 709, 99% of AdobeRGB and 97% of DCI-P3. External X Rite and Klein calibration is supported. The Z24x G2 Display is scheduled to be available in early July for $559.

HP’s Z31x Studio display has physical control buttons.
