At the recent Computex event, the HDMI Forum is reported to have demonstrated the use of variable refresh rates (VRR) using an XBox One X and exploiting the VRR features in HDMI V2.1 and on a Samsung QLED TV. Some Samsung TVs this year will support VRR technology at up to 120Hz. (Samsung Launches FreeSync Support for Select 2018 TVs)
The forum will hold a meeting in Milan in September for its Technical and Marketing Working Groups.

Separately, Tom’s Hardware has reported that the next generation Nvidia GPUs will have new output connectors to support high resolution and high refresh connectors.
