Dexta Robotics has shown a new version of its DexMo ‘exoskeleton glove’, which is designed to add touch feedback to VR. Like the PowerClaw, the DexMo cannot track hand movements (yet – it is under development); the glove currently relies on two Vive controllers, strapped to the user’s arms. When an avatar touches a virtual object, Dexta’s software will compute force feedback and effectively ‘push’ against the wearer’s hand. Different objects provide different levels of feedback, so a rubber duck feels different from a rock, for example.
