Convertible PC Features 400 cd/m² Display

Asus announced the Transformer Pad T101 at Computex this year, and has now shared more details about the new convertible PC. It is a 10.1″ hybrid product with an aluminium chassis.

The unit weighs 580g in tablet mode and 1.1kg with the keyboard attached. The reversible magnetic hinge means that the keyboard can be flipped and the T101 used in tent or stand mode. The keyboard also features a touchpad with gesture support and palm rejection.

Display resolution is 1280 x 800, with 400 cd/m² of brightness and 178° viewing angles. The display, said to be the brightest of any convertible model, is optically bonded to the cover glass to lower reflections. Image sharpness and contrast is ‘optimised’ with Asus’ Tru2Life enhancement technology.

Windows 10 runs on a quad-core Intel Atom X5 series processor, with 2GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB of eMMC storage. A micro-SD slot can support cards up to 512GB. Battery life can reach 11 hours. The unit also features dual-band 802.11ac WiFi and micro-HDMI, micro-USB and full-size USB 2.0 ports.

Although Asus did not share a price, reports from Computex claimed that the T101 would cost $300.
