Haier Embraces Chromecast

Haier is dropping the Roku TV smart-TV platform and joining companies such as Vizio, Seiki, Philips and Polaroid in adopting the Chromecast built-in platform for the North American TV market, Haier announced at CES.

Launching in Q2 of 2017, the new Haier television line with Chromecast built-in will range from 43 inches to 75 inches. Chromecast replaces the need to have the older Google Cast stick and makes it easier for consumers to get access to shows, movies, music, sports, games, and more. Chromecast built-in offers access to: 1,000+ Chromecast-enabled apps; 200,000+ TV shows and movies and 30,000,000+ songs

With the feature, the firm said ‘the phone becomes your remote. Simply tap the Cast button from apps to stream content from your phone, tablet or laptop to the TV, via an Internet connection’. That means the phone is not playing the content, saving battery life. – CC
